Tonight is my writers group, so I need to write something. (Yes, sometimes I write last minute!).

My mom has been coming to the group. As a reader, she's able to offer great insight into the reader-experience. 

Last week, I brought the piece I sent to you last week, with a bit more added to it. In it, I had Jack join Tess in the shower (...you know how it goes with happily married passionate fictional characters). My mom stopped me and asked, "You don't read the sexy bits do you?" (In my critique group we read out loud).

No, I don't read the sexy bits out loud. I enjoy writing and reading them in my head, but not out loud.

Speaking of reading sexy bits out loud, the audio book of Drawn to Her is releasing February 21, 2023. Right now I only have the link from the publisher, Tantor Media. 

I'm so nervous to hear the voices of Lexie and Drake, and the rest of the characters come to life. 

PARTY TIME

Valentine's Day is coming and my PA is working on putting together a really fun party featuring the Valentines and other romantic suspense authors hosted on Facebook. When I have more information, I'll share it with you. I think there will be a pick your book boyfriend type game that involves FREE books.

I'm about to discuss Daniel and Kate from the Valentine series and if you haven't read at least through book 5, To Love Honor and Kill, I might be giving away some info...

I run an online community for romance writers and shared with them how I was struggling with what to do with two secondary characters that I had fall in love in the Valentine books; Daniel and Kate. I went so far as to include both their POV's in To Love Honor and Kill. Admittedly, I struggled with the two of them together. I just haven't been feeling it between them, so I've slowly been tugging them apart. 

But when I asked my reader group about them, most didn't like the idea of my breaking them up or killing one (it would Kate...I can't let Daniel go). It's been a struggle the last few books and novellas to decide what to do with them.

In another series I'm planning, I have a witch (I envision it as Betwitched-like except with romance, intimate bits, and murder mysteries). So I've been learning about witches including Tarot cards. In an interesting turn, I used those cards to find out what I should do about Daniel and Kate. I won't go into too much detail, but the answer was to keep them together. 

Of course, I do have some readers who don't much like Kate, which I think is my issue as well. But I created her. I could redeem her...right?

What are you thoughts on Daniel and Kate? What should I do with them?
