We've gone through another year of a pandemic, but for some reason, 2021 went faster than 2020. I was hoping for big things in 2021. While I achieved a few goals, I fell short of all I wanted to get done. Even so, here's what happened in 2020:
❤️Risk It All (Worth the Risk re-write in first person) released June 201
❤️ The Valentine Mysteries got new covers and wide distribution (ebook), including selling them for a deep discount through my site. Valentine Special 50% Off Offer
❤️ Southern Heat got new covers as well, and is now in Kindle Unlimited. Book sales and reads for this series are up this year.
❤️ This fall, the Valentine Mysteries were made available through the Scream App. Deadly Valentine on Scream
❤️ In August I did a workshop on revision through the Virginia Writers Club Symposium via Zoom.
❤️ In October, I attended my first in-person event in over a year doing a workshop on dictating your writing for the Maryland Writers Association.
❤️ I grew Write with Harte, my online community for romance writers, hosting a Preptober and Writevemeber challenge. The weekly Zoom calls have been so great, that we'll be continuing them in the new year!
Unmet Goals
❤️Both the Valentine novella and book 7 are still not complete, but I'm writing up a storm to get them done as asap.
❤️ Come to Me, Southern Heat book four is started but not complete.
❤️ I couldn't maintain my romance reading community and recently took it down.
❤️ My romance reading podcast continues to have downloads, but I haven't added a new show in a long time. I'm toying with turning it into a romance writing podcast. Or covering both. Or an all-things romance fiction. If you listen to podcasts, I'd love your feedback.
I've been working as a ghostwriter the last few years, which has significantly slowed down my production. In the last 3 years, I've written 52 book for other clients. I love the regular income and the bestseller status and reviews my clients are getting, but I'd sure rather have them on my own books. My goal is to spend 2022 writing more for me!
Goals for 2022
❤️Complete Valentine book 7 for a release in March that I hope will include a very special collaboration.
❤️ Complete the Valentine Novella for a February release.
❤️ Complete Come to Me for a June release.
❤️Recover print versions of the Valentine and Southern Heat books.
❤️Write a new romantic suspense for a traditional publisher.
❤️ Write at least one more Valentine novel for publishing in the fall or winter 2022.
❤️ Continue to help other romance authors write and publish romance books.
❤️ Attend Malice Domestic, Suffolk Mystery Book Festival, and other reader/writer events.
❤️ Quit ghostwriting.
❤️ Do better keeping up with my reading journal.
Do you have goals or resolutions or intentions for 2022? I'd love to hear about them.
