I just got back from another quick trip to the beach. I so love the beach. I never go into the water. I don't even have to sit on the beach. I just need to be able to hear and see it (the balcony from a hotel works just fine).Â
Â
While I was there, I finished Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door by Lucy Score. It was a funny rom com mystery. Overall I enjoyed it, although it was a bit slow through the first part of the second act. Still it was good enough that if there was a sequel, I'd read it. It was one of the few books I've read recently where I laughed out loud.Â
Â
Other books I'd recommend for the beach (besides my books đ)Â include:
Beach Read by Emily Henry
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
The House at the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune
You Had Me at Hola by Alexi Daria
Now I'm home writing and working on my other projects, but I sure wish I was at the beach. If money were no object, I'd have a beach house in a location that never got colder than 70 degrees and I'd have a large lanai where I'd write all day, except for when I napped in the hammock.Â

Everyone needs a dream, right?
New Valentine Excerpt
Â
I've started on the novella bringing Jack and Tess home on the train from their trip to San Francisco in Truly Madly Deadly. I don't have a title yet, but here's the opening...
Â
Each step Jack Valentine took through the tight corridor of the US Rail sleeper car in San Francisco, California, the more he felt his alpha male cred slipping away all because he was terrified of flying. Over the last year, heâd faced death a half dozen times, but flying? That was his kryptonite.
He cursed himself because he had flown out from Virginia to California with his wife, Tess, albeit with medicinal help. Unfortunately for him, Tess used his fly pills to save them from being murdered. No doubt Tess thought she was being helpful when she booked the train tickets home. Instead, he felt like a wuss.
âThis is us,â Tess said, sliding open the door to their room for the next few nights.
The entrance to the room was tighter than the hallway. Jack was glad they didnât have bigger bags. Theyâd made the trip at the last minute after Christmas and didnât pack much. He wasnât sure where theyâd put the bags that they had.
Tess looked out the window and then turned to him. She frowned. âWhy are you so grumpy?â
âIâm not sure how you can stay married to me considering what Iâve brought us to.â He set the bags down on the chair.
âWhat are you talking about?â
âBecause I donât like to fly, weâre now going to waste all this time on the train.â
She pursed her lips. âThatâs not why youâve got your boxers in a bunch.â
âWhat sort of man canât fly? How you arenât embarrassed by me.â He hated how pathetic that made him sound. Of course, that was the source of his self-recrimination.
She walked to him with a flirty smile. He vowed to not let it affect him.
She pressed one hand on his chest and other much lower making him hiss out a breath. âI stay married to you for other reasons.â
He gritted his teeth.
She turned away going to the couch. She bent over, and Jack couldnât deny that at least he had a good view. She pulled turning the couch into a bed. âIt will be fun. An adventure.â
âOne day on a train might be an adventure, but three days?â
âThree nights. Four days.â
He groaned. âWhat will we do?â
She tsked tsked. Then she lay back giving him that flirty smile again. âNot wanting to fly doesnât make you less of a man Jack, but if you canât imagine three nights with no demands, nothing to do, and nowhere to go, just us two, aloneâŚthen I am worried.â
She was right. There were way worse things than spending three nights in tight quarters with his wife. He shut the door and pulled the curtain. Then he crawled over her on the bed.
She ran her fingers through his hair. âThere you are.â
âI lost myself for a minute.â He dipped down nipping her lower lip.

Valentine Updates
I'm still working on getting the Valentine books on other e-reading platforms, but why would you want to buy them there when you get the whole series 50% off direct from me?Â
Â
Deadly Valentine is still free, but the remaining 5 books are offered at 50% off. Plus, I've tossed in the Christmas novella for free too. You can learn about it here: Valentine Special Offer
Â
Do you already own the Valentine Series? Did you enjoy it? What if I paid you 10% to share this special offer with others?Â
Â
I have a brand new affiliate program. It's free to join and pays 10% which is just about a $1. I know it's nothing to write home about, but when was the last time you got paid a buck when someone bought a book series you recommended?
