Crash and Burn
Â
I generally enjoy taking on many projects at once. It's a bit like plate spinning working to make sure everything is getting the attention it needs. But for a couple of weeks at the beginning of February, it all came crashing down. I exceeded my threshold for getting things done.
Â
I hate not meeting my obligations or turning in something substandard. But, having overextended myself, something had to give. I was able to cull one time-consuming project from my list, and I finished two projects finally. I had a brief respite where I should have been working on the last Sophie Parker book, but I was mentally empty, so I took a few days off. (The book is due in March!)
Â
Recharged, I started two new projects and made progress on the Sophie Parker book and then...I got sick. Cripes, it never ends, does it?
Â
Instead of pushing through the illness, I slept all day, and today, I'm refreshed and ready to go!Â
Â
I suspect I'm not alone in having moments in which I feel completely drained and uninspired, and also stressed because I have no choice to forge on.
Â
I'd be curious to hear how you deal with it when you'd rather climb in a hole and hibernate instead of deal with the busyness of life.
Â
Speaking of Sophie Parker, I had a most excellent talk at my local library, selling out all my copies of Death of a Debtor! If you haven't read it, please check it out. It's a traditional cozy mystery with a lighter flair. You can learn more and read an excerpt at JennaHarte.com.
