The other day, my husband asked me if we had any old suitcases we didn't need anymore. He said that social services near where he works was collecting them to give to foster children when they move to a new home. I hadn't heard of this before. Having been a social worker, I know that more often than not, foster kids pack their things in a trash bag.
In fact, I wrote about this in the updated Worth Risk when Max, who grew up in foster care, is telling Madeleine about the lack of permanence that foster children experience.
"As a child, everything that I'd consider to be mine didn't even fill up a garbage bag."
"That's it?"
I nod. Today, I have more stuff, but not as much as I could. Not as much as other equally wealthy men. "When the social worker would move me to a new home, that's how I packed up my stuff. In my case, it was a few bits of clothes and a couple of books in a garbage bag." I give her wan smile. "None of the foster kids I was around had suitcases."
So, if your social services department does this, and you have old suitcases, I hope you'll consider donating them. In my case, I don't have old suitcases, but I recently saw some at our local thrift store that I'm going to buy and donate.

Read, Reading, and TBR
I recently read:
I've been lax and haven't picked up a new book yet. Any suggestions?
I recently listened to on Audible:
I haven't finished any audio books since last week. That's a sure sign that I'm not running enough!
Reading/Listening
Most Likely to Score by Lauren Blakely (audio) - I really enjoyed Cooper's story (Most Valuable Player), and am enjoying the sequel telling Jones' story. Lauren has a great writing style and her characters are interesting in an every-day-human kind of way, even though in these books they're NFL football players.
