I'm a big fan of the show, Who Do You Think You Are. I've been watching some of the British versions, and recently came across Olivia Coleman's episode. If you don't know Olivia Coleman, she's in Broadchurch, plays the older Elizabeth II in The Crown, and plays Queen Anne in the new movie The Favourite).

In her WDYTYA episode, a historian uncovers letters from one of her many-times great-grandfather to his brother about a woman he was pining for (who eventually became her many-times great grandmother). If you've ever read Jane Austen, these letters are proof that people really wrote letters like those she shares in her books. One of the best lines in these letters is when he notices a subtle look from her that suggests "she's not indifferent to me after all."

Today, the love letter seems to be extinct, which is sad for sappy, hopeless romantics like me. Although, there was a letter (similar to Darcy's letter to Elizabeth) in the audio book I just listened to, Gemini by Penelope Ward.

If you want to read the ultimate love letter, read Persuasion by Jane Austen. With lines like "You pierce my soul," and "I'm half agony, half hope," Captain Wentworth's letter the all-time most swoonworthy love letter. Quick Updates

Book one in my new cozy mystery series, Death of a Debtor, will be out in February (yay!).

I'm working on the last edits for book two, Death of a Coupon Queen, before sending to my publisher.

The print version of Truly, Madly, Deadly: Valentine Book Six will be available soon!

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) has been a bear. I'm not optimistic that I'll hit the 50,000 words in 30 days goal, but I have written quite a bit on a new romance novella.

The Delecoeurs are back...

I found a book on using Wattpad and decided I'd try it out using a rewrite of Worth the Risk, the first Delecoeur book. I've been reading several books in first person present point of view and it really immerses you into the story.

So, I've rewritten Worth the Risk in first person present, and will likely do the same with Endangered, the second Delecoeur story.

Read, Reading, and TBR

I recently read:

The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley - I have a friend who gushes about this author, so I picked up this book that involves Scotland in current days and the early 1700's. It's about an author writing a historical novel, which is included in the book. I enjoyed it, although it did take a bit to get into it.

I recently listened to on Audible:

Gemini by Penelope Ward (audio) - (Possible spoiler alert) In general, I enjoyed this book, but I did have a few issues. The lusting at first glance was a little over the top. Yes, these types of sexy romances need to move fast, but in this case, it's a little too much too soon, especially since they don't actually talk to each other except for her to bring him his bagel (she's a waitress). There were bits that I felt were too long. I kept thinking, when are these people going to see each other again. When they finally do, it's still along time before things start to happen. Another issue was that I never right bought why it was such a big deal for him to keep his secret. Finally, the adoption information wasn't "real" based on my experience as an adoption social worker. For one, an agency would never separate twins as a matter of course. There'd have to be a serious issue that would necessitate placing with two different families.

Reading/Listening

Most Likely to Score by Lauren Blakely (audio) - I really enjoyed Cooper's story (Most Valuable Player), and am enjoying the sequel telling Jones' story. Lauren has a great writing style and her characters are interesting in an every-day-human kind of way, even though in these books they're NFL football players.
