I'm sorry I've been MIA. There's so much going on!

First, book one in my new cozy mystery series, Death of a Debtor, will be out in February (yay!), but I'm still not finished with book two. I live in fear of the day my publisher emails and says, "Where's the second book?" Fortunately, the draft is done and I'm revising.

But...November of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), and I always commit to doing it even though I often fall short of the 50,000 words in 30 days goal. I have started what I hope to be a steamy romance novella.

Finally, I have the rights back to all three books in the Southern Heat series, which means I need to reformat, get new covers, and prepare for republishing. Which brings me to my question...

Do you listen to audio books?

I love listening them when I run. The steamier the romance the better to distract me from my run. I've noticed that several of the authors I enjoy put a lot of focus on their audio publishing. I even reached out to a few that highly recommended adding audio versions of my books.

The challenge of course is whether or not people would enjoy my books in audio, and finding good readers. The narrator makes all the difference (Sebastian York has a voice to swoon for).

I'd love to know if you listen to audio books and if so, what types?

How do you learn about new authors?

One of the biggest challenges to writing books, aside from the writing itself, is selling them. I have a virtual assistant and recently hired a book publicity service to help, but I still haven't figured out the best way to reach people who don't know about my books, but might like them.

Over at the SweetHarte Facebook group, I posted a poll asking how they learn about new authors. The two biggest sources of discovering new books/authors was through friends and other authors. What that tells me is that Facebook and Amazon ads, reviews on blogs, and a host of other marketing tactics aren't the best options. It means I have to rely on current readers (that's you!!) to help me spread the word.

I'm curious to know how you learn about new authors/books. Is it through friends or family? Blog reviews? High rankings on Amazon? Or something else?

The Delecoeurs are back...

I found a book on using Wattpad and decided I'd try it out using a rewrite of Worth the Risk, the first Delecoeur book. I've been reading several books in first person present point of view and it really immerses you into the story.

So, I've rewritten Worth the Risk in first person present, and will likely do the same with Endangered, the second Delecoeur story.

Tailspin (audio) - I always enjoy Sandra Brown.
Part-Time Lover (audio) by Lauren Blakely - This is a follow up to Wanderlust telling Christian's story. I enjoyed, although was a little annoyed at Elise at the end for getting mad at him, when she was the one who set the "rules" of no-commitment.
Most Valuable Playboy (audio) by Lauren Blakely - Another good one from Lauren. I especially enjoyed this book as it takes place in my old stomping grounds in California.
All About the D (audio) by Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam- I need to go back and read the blurb for this book, as I don't think I'd have normally picked it knowing the premise. With that said, the characters are interesting which helps get past the premise, and so far I'm enjoying it. (romance)

Reading/Listening

The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley - I have a friend who gushes about this author, so I picked up this book that involves Scotland in current days and the early 1700's. It's about an author writing a historical novel, which is included in the book. I'm enjoying it, although it did take a bit to get into it.
Gemini by Penelope Ward (audio) - I've only just started this book, and while it's interesting, I think the lusting bit at first glance is a little over the top. Yes, these types of sexy romances need to move fast, but in this case, it's a little too much too soon, especially since they don't actually talk to each other except for her to bring him his bagel (she's a waitress). But I'll keep listening.
