My TBR stack is huge. I've considered putting a moratorium on buying new books until I've read the ones I already own. But I'm not strong enough to commit to that...lol.Â
Â
I've thought about making a deal with myself where I can't buy a new book until I've read 5 books on my exiting TBR stack. We'll see if I decide to try that. The new JD Robb comes out next week so I'm not sure I want to make that deal right now.Â
Â
The point is, I buy a lot of books. Whenever I look at the budget, book buying one area that is higher than it probably should be, especially since I also have Kindle Unlimited and Audible. Sometimes I justify my purchases by saying I'm supporting authors. Mid-list and indie authors have a tougher time making a living telling stories than the JD Robbs of the world, so I like to support them.
Â
Even so, I sometimes I have to tighten up the financial belt and find other ways to get my book-fix without spending a fortune. One option is the library and September is Library Card Sign Up Month. Chances are, if you love books, you have a library card, but if not, I encourage you to get one. Libraries aren't just
for checking out physical books anymore. You can also check out games. Or you can "borrow" ebooks and audiobooks. Our library has Rosetta Stone Language Learning online for free, plus a host of other online resources. The only thing you need to access them is a library card.Â
