It's fitting that in my recent quest to add more bliss to my day, that this month is Happiness Happens Month and this week is Hunt forĀ Happiness Week, sponsored by the Society of Happy People.
Ā
This group has a list of daily happiness hunting tips for this week, such as "how many times did you feel grateful today?"Ā or "how many times did you see your favorite color today?"Ā or today's hunting assignment, "how many happy emojis did you see today?"

Some of these may seem silly, but there is something about paying attention to positive things, even the little things, that can boost mood or at the very least, quiet the negative ones.Ā
Ā
During the worst parts of the pandemic, I would turn to TikTok to get a great laugh. It was small and silly, but very helpful when the world felt too heavy.
Ā
I also read a lot of romance and, as it so happens, this month is also Read a Romance Novel Month. I posted on my Facebook page some recommendations of great romance novels (assuming you need any recommendations).Ā
Ā
As far as writing updates...
I've got a good start on the Valentine Train Novella (or it might be shorter than that...a novellette?) and the opening to the 7th Valentine book came to me in my run the other day. (I really wish there was a gizmo to download my brain for those times I have great writing when I'm running or sleeping.)
Ā
I also received the copyedits for Death of a Miser, the third and final Sophie book! I don't have a release date for it yet, but I hope you'll enjoy it!Ā
Ā
Getting back into the reading and writing world
One thing I've missed during the pandemic is getting out to author and reader events, so I made a list of events for 2022 that I might like to attend. Several I've never been toĀ such as Coastal Magic in Florida orĀ Lust in the Lowcountry in South Carolina.Ā
Ā
I hope to go back to Malice Domestic, the Suffolk Mystery Authors Festival (which is has been open to all genres the last few years), and the Virginia Festival of the Book.
Ā
āDo you attend reader events? What are some of your favorites to go to?
