It's no secret that I'm a big fan of sleuthing couples. Tommy and Tuppence Beresford from Agatha Christie. Nick and Nora Charles from Dashiell Hammett. Eve and Roarke from J.D. Robb. And from TV, Jonathan and Jennifer Hart from Hart to Hart. It's why I write the Valentine and Delecoeur mysteries. Passionate couples solving crime or getting into trouble is my thing.
Â
The other night while perusing Amazon Prime TV, I came across a 1950's show called Mr. and Mrs. North featuring...you guessed it...a sleuthing couple. How had I never heard of this?
As it turns out, Mr. and Mrs. North is a series of books and short stories, was once a radio show, Broadway show, and film, and then in the 1950's a short-lived TV show.Â
Â
To be honest, the show isn't great but that's partly because it's a relic of its time. With that said, even with the stereotypes of women, Mrs. North is really the crime solving part of the duo.Â
Â
I'm curious about the books. Book one, The Norths Meet Murder is on Amazon Kindle, but my library has two later copies, The Dishonest Murderer (book 13) and Curtain for a Jester (book 17). Have any of you read these? I'd be curious to know your reviews!
