Hi !
Sorry for the lapse in correspondence. Life sort of got away from me. But just because I haven't emailed in a couple of weeks, doesn't mean things aren't moving and shaking on my end.
I met Lori
Foster!!
I was at the Virginia Festival of the Book, and there was Lori Foster on a romance panel discussing alpha males. I remember first reading Lori many years ago and thinking wow...that's hot stuff she's writing. In fact, I think I read somewhere that her success was one reason Harlequin launched its Blaze line. Of course today, many romances are scorching, but Lori is still a very prolific writer of great
romance.
I had a chance to chat with her (as she signed my book), and told her about a book of hers that I read a long time ago that always stuck with me because the female protagonist was a little overweight (like me). In the 90s, it seems like all the leading ladies were willowy or curvy, but never plump. So it was great to see that in a romance.
She was very
sweet and friendly, and I was glad to be able to meet her.
Truly, Madly, Deadly: A Valentine Mystery Book 6
Truly, Madly, Deadly: A Valentine Mystery Book 6 is just about ready for the editor. I plan to make one more pass through it and send it on to my editor next week. Whoop! Good golly this book has taken me
forever to write.
Death of a Debtor
I just got copy edits back on Death of a Debtor, which is a brand new cozy mystery involving coupons, fairy tales, golf clubs and of course murder. I don't have a release date yet, but will let you know when I do. I just put a little blurb about it on my website (which I
also just tweaked a bit). Check out JennaHarte.com to see it.
Worth the Risk
I'm also rewriting Worth the Risk, the first Delecoeur story. It's currently novella length and I'm expanding it. I'll be taking it down as
a free book shortly, so if you haven't grabbed it yet, you can both Worth the Risk, and Endangered in a zipped file with both mobi and epub. I have already removed it from online book retailers, so this is the only source at the moment.
Review Request
Just another quick reminder, reviews are crucial to author success, so if you haven't yet left a link to any of my books that you've read, I'd be so grateful if you'd take a few minutes to do so.
Of special note is if you've read the first
three Valentines or the Southern Heat series, if you could review the boxed sets, that would be especially appreciated!
I've Got a Question for You...
When I run, I like to listen to audiobooks. My preference is for sexy romance because I find them the most distracting when I exercise. Last year I discovered Lauren Blakely, and I really enjoy her books. (I particularly like the Big Rock series). At first her descriptions sound like douchey, over-confident men, but they're actually really great guys. She has a unique voice, and interesting stories, even though there is very little drama or angst.
What's really interesting is that her
latest books are all written in first person (I), usually most in the man's point of view. I've discovered a few other authors who, like Blakely, are writing in first person from both romantic leads. For example, chapter one might be the woman's first person point of view and chapter would be the man's.
It's creates a different vibe in the book, because it's almost as if you're the
character's BFF and they're talking directly to you.
In my rewrite of Worth the Risk, I'm thinking about switching from third person both point of views, to first person. My question is, have you ready any romance books like this and what do you think?
Other authors I've found who use first person in some of their romances include Emma Chase
and Corinne Michaels.
