[Jenna Harte] New books, news, and more!

Welcome to Jenna Harte's Updates
Hi !

I feel rotten about how out of touch I've been. My life got really chaotic there for a bit. I felt like I was on a treadmill...my legs moving as fast as they could, but not really getting anywhere. Some of my busyness was fun. I was at the Suffolk Mystery Author Festival where I sold a lot of books and spoke on a panel. I must have made an impression because one gentleman came up to my table after my panel and told he me enjoyed my talk, adding, "You're some kind of crazy." I decided that was a compliment.

Other craziness hasn't been so fun. My grandmother is ailing and my sister and I flew out together to visit her. While there, she seemed to be gaining strength, but now it seems she's sliding back.

An interesting tidbit ... my grandmother is Canadian French, and the name of Tess' boutique, Cezarier, is a family name (it's my grandmother's grandmother's name).

I'm hoping this fall things are about to settle down.

P.S. I'm on Instagram and trying to be more active there. If you're an Instagramer, you can check out and follow my profile.

    Book Updates
Southern Heat box set releases on Sept 28! Readers can buy each ebook individually at $3.99, or starting on Sept. 28, they can buy all three for $9.99, which is saves over a $1.

Death of a Debtor has been shopped around and while many publishers say the writing is good and story is enjoyable, they've passed on buying it. UGH! Rejection sucks. However, one publisher asked for a revision...it even called my agent to tell her to please have me revise. I've done the revision and fingers crossed the publisher will like it. I hope to hear any time now.

Valentine 6 is still giving me headaches, but I'm making progress. Tess and Jack just haven't been very helpful in this one. Even more annoying, they've been prattling on about stuff in a future book. But I can't get to that book until I write this one.

And still other ideas are taking root including a PI mystery, a romance (or maybe mystery series) with a pirate theme, a paranormal romance, and a time travel. I definitely need to get writing.

    Read, Reading, and TBR

    Read...

I finished Secrets in Death by JD Robb. The last few books in the In Death series have been pretty good. This one was fine, but not quite as good as some of the others, although I feel like I giggle more. And there's a scene where Eve seduces Roarke that's pretty good.

On audio book, I've listened to the complete Royalty Series starting with Royally Screwed by Emma Chase. They're pretty fun. I'd say the first book (Royally Screwed) was best.

    Reading...

Right now I'm in the middle of Appealed (also by Emma Chase). It's okay. Sometimes I think female protagonists in romances are really annoying. Of course, she's operating under a false understanding, but still. I listened to another story in this series that was pretty good.

Both Emma Chase and Lauren Blakely have a refreshing style of writing that I'm enjoying.

Next up on my to-be-read (TBR)...

I just picked up four cozies because Barnes and Noble was having a buy 3 get one free on them. But I still have several books on my previous TBR to read. I'm also planning to grab A Drink Before the War, by Dennis Lehane (I'm interesting in writing a PI novel). Have you read any of his works?

Here's what's currently on my list:

Have you read any of these?

This isn't all that's on my TBR...but it should get me through October.

What have you read, are reading or is sitting on your TBR?
