Welcome to Jenna Harte's Updates
Hi !

Happy New Year!!

I just received the pre-formatted copy edited version of Wed to You. We're in the homestretch. I had the release date for Wed to You wrong...it's January 24th! I'm planning an author takeover event on Facebook with 10 other great authors who'll not only share their most excellent works, but have goodies and giveaways as well. Stay tuned for more details.

In the meantime, you can pre-order Wed to You at your favorite ebook e-tailers. Also, Meant to Be, book two in the Southern Heat series, is currently $0.99.

Cool Stuff I've Learned as an Author
I'm currently finishing up a cozy mystery (new series) that is due to my agent in February. Cozies are normally pitched as a series, which means I need three mysteries plotted. The first one is done, the second one I know the victim and how she's killed, but I was stuck on the third mystery. Then, as I was doing my holiday baking, I had a recipe calling for fresh nutmeg. The problem was, I couldn't find fresh nutmeg. So I went online to find out how to adjust the quantity from fresh to ground, and discovered that nutmeg can kill. There's my third mystery!

I've come across some interesting stuff in my research and back in August I posted an article on some the cooler things I've discovered. You can read It's Hard to Kill with Mistletoe and Other Things I've Learned as an Author.

    Free Ebook
Worth the Risk, a free novella to email subscribers and SweetHarte street team members, is also now free on Amazon, Nook, iBooks and Kobo. And, if you read it, would you mind leaving a review? Thank you!

    Read, Reading, Releases and TBR

    Read...
I just finished reading Mary Marks' Knot In My Backyard, a quilting cozy mystery involving a 50-something divorcee and her cast of friends. Since I've been writing a cozy, I've been reading more of them. Mary and I share an agent and she's published with the publisher I'd like to have (Kensington). This is the second book in the series, and while I don't feel I missed anything by not reading the first, I'd probably recommend starting with Knot What You Think

    Reading...
I've just picked up Mollie Cox Bryan's Death Among the Doilies, from her new Cora Crafts series. Like Mary, Mollie is with my dream publisher. I enjoyed her last scrapbooking cozy series, so I'm looking forward to getting into this newest series.

    Releases...
Fellow author CJ Fosdick has a new book, Accidental Stranger, coming out January 6, 2017. Check out this intriguing blurb:

Jessica Brewster is being watched…and things go missing
from the remote Wyoming home she shares with her toddler. In a
freak accident, she shoots the grizzled thief stalking her before she
recognizes the mesmerizing green eyes that belong to the only man
she ever loved.  Has Mitch bridged time to find her? In a race to
save his life and change hers forever, she takes him into her home and
heart. But his memory loss and puzzling clues curry doubt and danger.

Is he truly her son’s father or an irresistible stranger in her arms?

I don't know about you, but I'm intrigued. Go pre-order Accidental Stranger now.

Next up on my to-be-read (TBR)...

For Christmas, my daughter bought me First Star I See Tonight by Susan Elizabeth Philips. I enjoyed her other Stars Football books so I'm looking forward to this one.

For several weeks, every time I walked into Barnes and Noble, I'd pick up Casanova: The World of a Seductive Genius. This is a biography of Casanova, and it wasn't cheap. But apparently he's still seducing women because I eventually bought it and am looking forward to learning about the man who wasn't only a womanizer, but also a spy, duelist, gambler, escape artist, and author.

I've heard a lot about Elizabeth Peters, but never read her. Since she writes about a married couple that gets in trouble, it seems like I should read her since those are my favorite stories. I picked up The Last Camel Died at Noon at my library sale.

My friend and fellow author Mollie Cox Bryan is an avid reader and has gushed over the books by Susanna Kearsley. I recently picked up The Winter Sea

This isn't all that's on my TBR...but it should get me through January...maybe even into February.

What have you read, are reading or is sitting on your TBR?
